The conversation is one that come up way more than it should. So I will do my best to spell this out so I have a place to send people who need a clue.
SOURCE CONTROL IS NOT AN OPTION.
You wouldn't let a carpenter build without a level. But for some reason there seems to be a missing concept among certain types of management who see that there is a $ attached to source control and immediately say no. So here is the information that I have to back up the statement above. For the Manager: For the Developer: I assume that if you are looking at this section you either have been working in a bubble or are new to the concepts of source control. Either is fine but we will address the two items seperatly.
